i love this photo. i downloaded a few of the new jay z tracks off his upcoming album the blueprint 3, but, empire state of mind really kind of hits home. there is something about living in new york that is hard to explain. today i was walking through bryant park and there was something about walking past the fashion week tents, that kind of reminded me that this is where i belong right now. i feel more alive when i'm in new york and maybe it's because the city itself is more alive than most. there is always something to do, even if it's just taking a walk by yourself, or getting a slice of pizza. philadelphia will always be where home is, and i will never forget where i came from, but i think perhaps new york is where my heart is, at the moment, anyway. maybe it is the perfect dreamworld for an idealist like myself. i mean don't get me wrong, i have my lonely moments, and my what the hell am i doing with my life moments, but its hard to forget your passions in a city where they are so prevalent.

i love when i find drawings or art that instantly makes me want to draw more, such as these works done by Spike Jonze's Mom. I really love her line quality and the composition of each scene she has drawn. they have an architectural feel to them but also retain a certain softness. more images after the bump. via we love you so

i am quite fond of vanessa traina's sense of style. she has a great balance of dark edgyness and femininity. if i were a designer she would be the kind of girl i would want wearing my clothes. i believe she is a stylist's assistant which makes sense. her make up is always pretty subtle/natural which i believe totally works with her aesthetic. you can see a little video of her on style.com here.
